Four types of braces for children and teens

Dental braces and retainers are commonly used for teeth straightening. About 75% of kids and teens have some or the other orthodontic problems with their teeth. Between the ages of 10 and 13 years, the problem of ‘grown in’ teeth is common. The common orthodontic dental problems that arise in kids and teens are: crooked teeth, overcrowded teeth, or too much space between the teeth. In some kids an under bite or overbite and bad bite also called as malocclusion are seen.

Types of braces for kids:

Invisible braces:

Invisible braces (Invisalign® )appear nearly invisible and help to re-align your teeth. These braces can be used for both teenagers and adults.

Traditional braces:

Traditional braces are manufactured from stainless steel or a combination of stainless steel and titanium. These are used for orthodontic correction. They are lighter and coloured, and highly preferred by teens. It is popular among children as well.

Clear braces:

Clear braces blend with natural teeth colour, and it is really transparent to an extent that it is difficult to differentiate between natural colour of teeth and braces.

Smart brackets braces:

Smart brackets braces are also called as self-ligating or speed braces. These braces held in places with no insertion of ties or bands. Smart braces are held together with the help of innovative clip system that firmly holds wires in place.
