Immediate dentures: what to expect at the dentist

The designing and modeling of immediate dentures may require a few dental visits prior to extraction of your teeth. These temporary dentures are made in the same way as permanent dentures.   The only difference is that they are made before you undergo tooth extraction process. Even if their fit is not perfect, they will help to maintain the shape of your face until you get your permanent dentures.

The molds of permanent dentures are made when the gum tissues get healed completely after tooth extraction process, which may take about six to eight weeks. During this healing process, the gum tissues will shrink and, therefore, the fit of permanent dentures will be perfect.
