Three problems dental bridges may cause

Dental bridge is a dental restoration that bridge the gap created by one or more missing teeth. A bridge has two or more crowns referred to as abutment teeth, and in between there is a false tooth made from porcelain, alloys and gold or a combination of all these which  is called  a pontic.

Dental bridges may be the solution for refitting of missing tooth, but there are issues with it as well. The main reason being it does not last a lifetime and patients at some point experience problems such as:

1. Spacing

The main problem is space between dental bridge and trimmed teeth. Normally a gap does not get created, but it can happen if traces of food gets stuck and it is difficult to clean.

2. Germ collection underneath the crowns

Patients need to be more cautious of their oral hygiene with dental bridge. It is important to maintain surrounding areas free of germs. Flossing may not be the perfect solution. People with bridges need to use other specialized cleaning equipment to remove food particles.

3. It may fall off

Dental bridges are created to fit firmly on teeth if the patient ensures  adequate hygiene and maintenance like brushing at least twice a day and visit to dentist twice a year. If the bridge is however not fabricated properly if might fall off, and the other reason for it to fall off is if there is a decaying tooth beneath the bridge.
