Warning signs of an impacted wisdom tooth

When you start having problem with wisdom teeth, you are likely to have impacted ones.  Impacted teeth are those which are not fully erupted through the gums into the mouth.  When your tooth gets impacted, there are some important signs that will alert you.

If left untreated, impacted wisdom teeth can result in gum infection, tooth decay and abnormal development of the adjacent teeth. As a result, this can lead to potential complications for both partially impacted and completely impacted teeth. There are three primary signs of impacted wisdom teeth. However all may or may not experience all these three signs together.

• Swelling around the jaw

• Swollen glands
• Ongoing earaches
• Headaches at the Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ), the connecting joint between the jaw and the skull
